This was truly about a teen finding his truth as he grows up. It was beautiful and the language itself was empowering. This book really screams acceptance and strength. I could have probably read this at any age and liked it!

What a read! Gorgeous language and illustrations and a really compelling story. Michael was a delightful character to follow along. At times I wanted more of certain themes especially as Michael grows up and the drag part of the narrative starts. It kind of loses the discussion of family and racial identity then, and the pacing suffers a bit as well. Still, a wonderful read!
