In the two weeks that I’ve read The Goldfinch it never left my mind, and it definitely will be occupying a place in my memories. One of the best books I’ve read so far. It created such a rollercoaster of emotions. Hatred, loving and everything in between.

How devastating and enthralling this journey was. The only other book I’ve read by Donna Tartt is one of my favourite books, The Secret History. Similar to The Secret History, The Goldfinch begins at a critical, devastating and questionable moment. We are then taken back to the past and the story is retold as we see how Theo ended up in that moment.

While many say this book was slow or too long, I think each moment is critical in fully comprehending who Theo is as a person. He is not necessarily a good or bad character, he just is someone who has gone through too many trials and tribulations.
