Great pacing, and the creepy carnival was done perfectly. The clowns antics were so good, I can imagine this translating to film easily. I found it to be an easy page turner but it was missing the depth of character building from the first three books. We stayed so surface level and felt the kids didn't experience the growth they have before. All the reviews about a disappointing ending are true, where it lacks detail, substance or effort.

Out of all four books, I liked this one the least. It felt like it was lacking in the level of suspense of the the other three books and ended rather abruptly, with everything tied up nice and neat. This entire series is written for younger readers (approximately 3rd grade and up) and is a great series for readers who don't mind a little bit of spookiness.
sadly this last book was not as good as the other. it had a good start, but then everything was solved in lesa than ten pages throwing all the rest of the story away. it was such a rushed ending that gave the idea that the author got tired of writing this story. actually a sad thing, because the characters were really good and the deserved a better ending.
Creepy, creepy clowns, haunted houses, and dolls are the stuff of my nightmares and I was so ready to be scared and finish this charmingly spooky quartet. The first half was fantastic and, as a parent, I really appreciated the involvement of the parents. I hate it when characters in stories try to do things themselves without involving adults or law enforcement, it's so unrealistic. I want my children to be able to come to me even with the wildest stories. If my kiddo told me they saw a ghost, I'm going to believe them.
I was disappointed in the anticlimactic ending. It seemed too simple, too sudden. I turned the page and realized it was over. I still liked it more than #3 but I still wish it was a stronger end to the series.

Great wrap up to this creepy series. I especially like that they didn’t add any romance, which would have taken away from the plot.
The character development was really nice to see throughout this series. Each character had so much growth and the friendship between the main characters was so heartwarming!
As with all the books in this series, there was just the right amount creepy/scary. No gore. Very good middle school scary book series!
