It was really good until the author decided to add some drama but went super overboard with it, in one moment it was a relaxing and cute romance, and at the other it was an edgy kidnapping scene where the FL gets mentally abused (and a bit sexually assaulted too) just so the ML can save her, but it doesn't end there, as if this was trying to resemble the plot from a grimdark novel, the ML had actually gone to save the FL thinking that would inadvertently end up killing one of his friends, which makes the story feel super awkward and unnecessarily cruel even after that scene is over (especially since it's a dumb conflict for a lighthearted romance webtoon, you don't have to choose between love and friendship in real life, what was that a symbolizing? that was simply a dumb plot point) .
None of the drama from the kidnapping necessitated the situation be so cruel and it only served to cause a tonal whiplash, he also did a gruesome kidnapping scene in "The First Night with the Duke" but it wasn't so gruesome as to ruin the series like what happened here in "Happily Ever Afterwards ".
