Chose this to read and write a book report on for my History of 19th century Britain class. Incredibly relevant to the class topic and today’s ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic. In the epilogue, Johnson writes about the future, and from a 2022 perspective (16 years after the book was published) it seems that he may have been too optimistic on our abilities to stop the spread of contagious diseases. Will definitely have to read another one of his books soon. Loved how he wrote about history in the style of a journalist.

The history was good but the essay in the epilogue was making some leaps and I feel like would have better served in a different book or collection of essays.
