For a kid’s book, this is dark, like first chapter I was like “oh shit”. Story wise it’s such an interesting premise to the series, I loved that I’m hooked with so many questions about it, would’ve loved if it had been longer and not ended in a cliff hanger but I know theres another book after this one. Honestly good time.

A delightful, middle-grade fantasy graphic novel, following a young girl who finds a powerful amulet and falls into an alternate world. Despite its breakneck pace that left me struggling to keep track of the plot and characters, I really enjoyed it and look forward to continuing the series!
Amulet was a very cute graphic novel. Perhaps it was too cute. To be fair, this is a children's graphic novel, aimed towards kids, so for that I think it hit the spot completely. There are all kinds of cute, fun characters, from a bunny rabbit to robots. And the main characters are children, too.
So, for me, this wasn't quite to my taste (C+)--it was a little too simplistic. But for it's intended purposes, for children, I think it's perfect (A). Which would round it out to a B grade. The story was just scary enough to keep the pages turning, but it's lightened with some really fun characters. I could actually see this more as a kid's movie than a graphic novel, but it works here too, I guess.
I would recommend this if you like to read graphic novels to or with your children. They would probably love it.

I wish we could put half stars, because I'd give it a 3.5. I think it's definitely worth a read, targeted at a young teen, and an excellent story.
What a great story. I am only sorry that I did not pick it up sooner. After book 1, I'm hooked.
