beautiful poetic writing. I haven't read a book like this before. An unusual idea to be poured into a book. This book shows human's rage, raw emotions and actions, support, friendship, loneliness, being absorbed in one's thought because he can't relate to this place, feeling not belonging to anywhere and having passed so much violence and deaths, longing for the home he used to be - that everything else felt dull and meaningless.

This book is so underrated and so good. I fell in love with this book from its opening lines to it's closing lines. This book dropped you into this fantasy world without explanation, but in a deeply immersive way. Everything felt so real from the scenery to the characters.
And one doesn't have to be religious to love this book. As long as you know the story of Adam and Eve, you'll go on an action-packed, gun-weilding, crime-fighting adventure with a few laughs along the way.
Essentially a heist book in an urban fantasy world. I need more of this. I would read an eight-book series about Adam and the animals.
Probably the best book I'll read this year.

What a marvelous, fascinating, subversive telling of the Myth of Adam. The Garden of Paradise left Earth long ago, and those who lived there died, too, right? Not so, as Adam reminds us that he was made before death. Adam, of Paradise, still lives on the Earth, changing identities as needed, doing the work of man, and connecting with nature and gardens as is his wont. There is a brutality within Adam and also a gentleness; a willingness to kill and a desire to preserve. This is a hero journey after all, as Adam seeks to save his home by recovering the pieces of Paradise scattered across the Earth. He will need help, and he has it in Owl, Magpie, and others. The immortal exiles of Paradise may yet save it from destruction.
An epic modern tale with biblical inspirations
This is a story of Adam, the original man, as he lives his immortal life in hiding. He is accompanied by other original creatures from the Garden of Eden as they attempt to escape being discovered by mortal humans once again.
I love a good story through time through the perspective of an immortal being. It reminded me a little of Wonder Woman or Hancock, with a biblical inspiration and without the super-powers. I enjoyed Adam’s perspective on life, the way he experiences things and how he just wants to find peace. However, I did find him to be a little simple, dull and passive at times, which made other elements around him have to push the plot forward; if it weren’t for those elements, this book would probably be called “Adam’s Little Book of Gardening”.
Even though I found myself asking more than once “where is this story going?”, and the lack of a clear overall plot, I still really enjoyed following the events scene after scene. Surprisingly, after a confusing section towards the last section of the novel, I felt it was concluded in a satisfying manner!
Quick and fun read overall!

Eu juro que tentei mas esse vai ficar com Deus. Protagonista apático, o povo fica pulando de um lado pro outro... um bando de personagem aparecendo a toda hora... bye!

Maybe it was my bad for reading a Biblical retelling but this was possibly the worst book I’ve read all year. I had a difficult time getting into it. Adam is basically a gun-wielding force who is mad at the world and killing everyone. I did think his apathy was interesting and unexpected. The antagonist was not well-fleshed out. He reminded me of a bad guy in a cartoon. I also found myself asking “wait, why is this happening?,” a lot. My biggest issue with this book was the pacing. It was slow in parts and then super-speed in others leaving you wondering what just happened. I might be missing something because this book gets great reviews both here and on Goodreads but I’m determined to read another book before 2023 so that this is not my last read of the year.
