I'm still not convinced that I am capable of making homemade ramen, but I for sure firmly believe that a comic book is a brilliant way to write a cookbook. Loved it! And can't wait to get to a ramen shop.

I loved this much as Noodles, Rice, and Everything Spice: A Thai Comic Cookbook.  We need more books like this!  The illustrations are cute; everything is educational, cultural, and fun!  Ramen is loved all over the world; it is a big bowl of comfort, and it’s only been around just over 100 years.  This book really makes you appreciate just how much goes into making the perfect bowl. It is a labor of love!  Here you will learn how to find and identify Ramen Yas (bars/houses), how to order it when you get there, what to say, and what not to do.  The whole bowl is broken down and you learn how to make ramen step by step, authentically.

The only complaint I have is that Narutomaki 🍥 are pictured but never mentioned.  That’s my favorite ramen condiment!  LOVE this book.

While this book is entertaining, I'm (a) just not THAT into ramen and (b) unable to eat most of the combinations as I don't eat meat. (This book is super meat-centric.)

This is a serious. ramen. cookbook. (in comic book clothes). As in, make your own noodles, broth, etc. That said, it was interesting to read about the (surprisingly recent) history of ramen, ramen culture (it's totally a thing), and the many variations. The illustrations are colorful and fun, which kept me reading even after I knew that I was never going to follow most of the instructions.

Personally, I'll stick to buying ready-made noodles and throwing together some quicker combinations, like easy miso mushroom ramen, spicy ramen with tofu, or coconut curry ramen.

But if you LOVE ramen (and meat), this is the book for you.

Gorgeous and colorful illustrations + various recipes with easy-to-read instructions = perfect for ramen lovers

Boil the water. Take the ramen out of the package and put it in the water. Boil for about 3-5 minutes. Add seasoning from package (assuming you didn't actually drop it in the boiling water).

Oh wait. You mean making ramen is more than that? So much much more.

If you are a visual learner who loves ramen this book was made for you. Everything is illustrated in this book which is fantastic since some ingredients or methods may be new to readers.

I have to admit though, I find making ramen from scratch to still be pretty intimating and this didn't really help motivate me. I doubt I'd ever make soup stock or noodles from scratch. Perhaps someday I would consider using some short cuts to make a bowl but right now I'll just enjoy the illustrations while eating my cheap instant stuff.

The illustrations are beautiful on this book. So full of color and inviting. The instructions seem to be well written as well - I just don't think I'm meant to make Ramen at home, at least right now in my life. There are a LOT of steps and some equipment I think we would need to be successful.
