alexismeyer's review against another edition
Any human in a romantic (or honestly maybe even non-romantic) relationship will benefit from reading this. Though Fray's perspective tells of his lessons after his divorce, the statistics and thought exercises he provides are truly profound and awakening. We can all be better partners, and this book forces you to address even those little things you do that might be undermining your relationship(s). This book gives lessons to strengthen relationships, even if you aren't on the brink of divorce. Really quite an impactful read!

I really enjoyed this fresh take on a self-help romantic relationships style book. Matthew Fray is honest about his own faults and wrote a viral essay about his divorce being about "dishes left by the sink". Although I am not sure I agree with every little detail about his advice, there was a lot there that was helpful and well thought out. It definitely gave me a fresh perspective about some things in my own relationships and some good advice for the future. I highly recommend picking this up if you want a fresh look at your own relationship. There are a lot of biographical details of his relationship which I think can occasionally get distracting from the main ideas, but overall, I think this is a helpful, well-written book.

I'd say this book is in large part targeted to men, but I found a lot of useful things in it.
