Boundaries by Hetty Ivers was a good story about a woman with a tape in her past and the difficulty she has with relationships without boundaries.

JUST THE TIP is a compilation of seven contemporary romances by various authors. This is my review for BOUNDARIES, a little romantic comedy by Hettie Ivers.

Elizabeth (Liza) Dunham is working with her firm's client, Mason Van Doren, on an acquisition. They're secretly attracted to each other however, a relationship is strictly forbidden. But what happens after their business is done?

Hettie Ivers writes fabulous paranormal romance so I was super excited to pick this one up, even though it's not her normal genre. And oh my goodness, I'm so glad I did! I absolutely adore her sense of humor. All of the characters, even Scott and Chandra (secondary characters), are infused with personality and witty comedy, so fun and quirky. Liza had this sweet likableness, I was drawn to her skittish charm. Yet, in spite of the humor, there's a serious thread weaved throughout, an aspect of Liza's past that we get glimpses of. Since this is a novella, we don't get too much from Mason's POV which made me a little sad because I would've loved to get in his brain and understand exactly what the heck he was thinking during a certain sexy office scene! {wink, wink} Honestly, I would love for this story to be a full length novel!

Overall, this is a quick entertaining read but I do have one thing to say to the author...Hettie, I NEED an epilogue or something! I need more of Mason and Liza and Scott and Chandra, PLEASE!! 😊 Told from dual POVs with a happy for now ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

*I received an ARC of Hettie Ivers' story BOUNDARIES*

Awesome story that raises certain expectations only to turn them on their head

After I read the preview for this novella I had to instantly download it and start reading. I find it quite difficult to review without giving away anything of importance.

Liza works as a junior accountant for a firm that is in the process of being acquired by another firm. She has been having fantasies about her future boss Mason. At the party celebrating the successful conclusion of the acquisition deal Mason comes on to her, although Liza wasn’t aware he knew her name, much less that he was in any way interested in her. Her attraction gets doused with cold water when he offers her what appears to be a sex contract of the type that Anastasia had to sign. Up to this point the story has all the ingredients to be a clever and humorous variation of 50 Shades but then takes a completely unexpected turn and is transformed into something more profound, although no less exciting.

I really, really loved the two main protagonists, although Mason is the type of book boyfriend that is almost too good to be true. I also liked how the author addressed a current, socio-politically sensitive topic and the way it was an integral part of the story.

If I would criticize anything than that it was much too short and had a kind of unfinished feeling. Hopefully there is going to be more about Liza and Mason and also about the supporting characters Chandra and Scott, since their first encounter was very intriguing.

The stories in this boxset are variable. Those in the middle I struggled through, but beginning and end I really enjoyed.
I received a free ARC copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
