Good quick steamy read. Fun too. Not as good as her recent "Compromise Me" series which was my first series ever by this author but still good. Tyler was a good guy at heart with a bad boy reputation. Just trying to do his job and as it turns out prove the people of their town of Bluelick, Kentucky that he was more than his bad boy past and current love em and leave em lifestyle, including Ellie. Ellie was a classic Type A personality with a strong desire to have what she didn't have growing up: a tight knit family, affection etc etc. She didn't go about the normal way of trying to achieve this (by trying to reel inner newly single crush, Roger) but it ultimately led her to who she was meant to love which was Tyler in the end.
No big conflict or relationship hiccups. A minor hiccup popped up toward the end, as they tend to do but it was the least dramatic thing to happen in the book. All in all a fun light read.

Convinced this was inspired by Zoe and Wade from Hart of Dixie and I'm not mad at it since those were the vibes I was hoping to get.

What I Liked: I enjoyed reading this. The story tripped along nicely, was well-written and was so easy to read. The plot is light and fun, and whilst there were some darker notes they never detracted from the main story. I
really liked both main characters. Ellie, the heroine, was so funny to me with her orderliness and planning; I also liked the glimpses of her vulnerability and how uncertain she actually was about herself and her life. Tyler was a nice contrast to her. It was interesting that, despite his outwardly laidback demeanour, he was more in control of the situation than Ellie. I enjoyed how that translated to him taking care of her and how he managed her behaviour and, later on, how he. He was just so calm and sensible despite how others seemed to see him.
Their relationship worked really well for me - they had good chemistry and some steamy moments together, and there were some really adorable bits, too.
What I Didn’t: There was nothing I really disliked.
Overall: It’s fun little book with a solid central romance. I found it so easy to read, I barely noticed how quickly I was getting through it, and I could see myself rereading it if I wanted something light.
Would I Recommend It?: Yes, if you want a small town, teach-me-about-sex romance with an opposites attract couple.
Would I Read Something By The Author Again?: Yes.
Content Notes:The heroine’s father blamed her for the death of her mother and was emotionally neglectful when she was a child. As an adult, he’s often angry with her and takes his feelings out on her. They discuss their relationship and begin to patch things up towards the end of the book. , alcoholism, violence, blood, health scare (side character ).
Other: On page sex, bondage, mild OM dramaThe heroine has feelings for another man that prompt her asking the hero to teach her about sex. This man later comes out to her as gay, but the hero sees them kissing as a joke and misunderstands the situation, causing a little bit of drama..

handled her father. I really liked there was no aggressive confrontation from his end - he treated her father respectfully but firmly and told him he needed to change if he wanted to continue to be in Ellie’s life, and I thought this made a nice change.Their relationship worked really well for me - they had good chemistry and some steamy moments together, and there were some really adorable bits, too.

Tyler Longfoot *sigh*
I really loved this book! Everything about it: the plot, the characters, the sex...
I was hooked from the very first page, it was a quick fun sexy ride and I can't wait to read more from this author. What a great debut!
It's your typical bad boy-smart girl story, but much better. The writting was amazing, and Tyler had a way with words and got me sighing most of the time. And damn, he was so hot! The steamy scenes were so yummy and fantastic, I really enjoyed everything.
The charatcers were likeable enough, and even if Ellie was a bit annoying sometimes with the whole 'follow the manual, go with the chapters' thing, you couldn't help but love her.
But Tyler stole my heart from the start. Everything about him was perfect. Sweet, caring, sexy, a hard worker and funny. I found awesome how he handled Ellie's proposition.
And the end... no words. I loved every second. I was expecting a really cliché and typical ending but I was pleasantly surprised.
The sexy scenes were something else. While so hot and sensual, the author kept it realistic enough, and everything was perfectly written and described. I can't understand how Ellie managed to think about the tutoring thing while she was in bed with Tyler... it would be a huge mood killer for me.
I totally recommend this book and I'll keep an eye on future books from this author, she really impressed me in a good way!

As a debut novel, the quality of the writing is brilliant and the story hit all the right hotness buttons. It even had me giggling a a few points.
Dr Ellie Swann has come back home to open her medical practice only to hear that her life-long crush RogerReynolds has only just split up with his childhood sweetheart and fiancé of ten years due to an incompatibility in the bedroom.
Thinking that in order to win her man she needs lessons to improve her bedroom skills, the solution lands at her door in the early morning with the name Tyler Longfoot, the resident bad-boy who has been shot in the butt.
In order to stay quiet about being shot she asks him for sex lessons in order that she can be the woman that Roger wants, only she doesn't tell Tyler that. After having planned and read what material she can in what she wants she marks chapters that she wants to try out.
Tyler and Ellie keep their 'relationship' quiet, however it soon becomes evident to each one separately that they both feel comfortable with each other and they end up sharing more than bedroom action.
It is safe to say this is a book that shows that you don't know what you really want until is there in front of you and you may just have lost it.
A good read.

PRIVATE PRACTICE was nominated for 2 RITA awards, and deserved the nominations. It's a sexy, humorous book with good emotional depth. Its a well-written, smooth read. It's difficult to put down as you watch Tyler and Ellie speed toward what you know is going to be a train wreck. But it's worth the train ride. And the clever resolution is absolutely perfect.
I won't soon forget clueless Ellie or that sexy bad boy, Tyler Longfoot.
Did I mention that Tyler is sexy?

"Private Practice" is the debut of author Samanthe Beck and it was a fun romp with lead characters Tyler Longfoot and Ellie "Sparky" Swann (aka "Doc" to Tyler). Ellie finds out that the guy she's had a crush on for years, Roger Reynolds, has mutually ended his engagement with Melody Merritt, she decides it's time for her to put the moves on him. Unfortunately, she believes she doesn't fit his requirements for a "wild" woman and decides to make a deal with Tyler, a man who's known for both his expertise in construction AND with women, asking him to tutor her in the ways of the wild. As romance novel readers well know, that's a setup just opening itself up to all types of entanglements. Hahaha. ^.^
The story itself was well told and the characters, including those playing support, were memorable and well-developed. I liked the twist involving Roger and was glad that Melody wasn't the typical bitchy ex-fiancee. ^.^ The dynamic between Tyler and Ellie was interesting, even though there were moments that she was too rigid in how she saw everything. I mean, for someone so smart, she really was quite clueless at times. Tyler was a great male lead; he was funny, endearing, and sweet. ^.^
"Private Practice" was a really nice debut and I'm looking forward to reading more from Samanthe Beck. This gets four out of five stars. ^.^
