Cursed Collectibles: An Anthology is my new favorite anthology! And that is saying a lot! Do you love antiquing or picking? Have you ever thought about what impressions might be left on those objects and what you might be taking home with you? Or if there may be more to the people selling these items than simply being a shop owner? This is a breath taking anthology that takes you through light hearted to horror to science fiction inspired tales, all encompassing the common theme of cursed collectibles. I really enjoyed reading this anthology as each author has a truly unique take on cursed objects and writing style. When it comes to reading, horror and the macabre usually steal my heart. With just enough of this sprinkled in, this anthology is very well rounded and has something for everyone. I loved the fact that these stories were not all straight forward tales of someone buying a cursed object. Human nature, our flaws, sins, and obsessions played into these tales and I found myself thinking that some people got what they deserved! Red in the Hood by Joy Auburn is by far my favorite! A girl in a red hooded sweater, Poppy, gives her customers simple directions to “Stay on the path.” and “If you stray, you’ll end up somewhere you might not want to be.” Little do they know the gravity of these statements and the horror of what is in the smoothie she is making. I found several new authors that I want to read more from after seeing the style of their writing in this anthology. If you are looking for a great read that can send a little chill up your back and to discover a new author or two, you cannot go wrong with this great read!
