“it’s that a person gets stupid when they become people. They are easily convinced of things.”
This book is brilliant, combining the best elements of World War Z and Lord of the Flies, and letting them loose on a theme park in a hurricane. This book shines in its world building, and comes to a chilling conclusion: the kids aren’t alright.

Great concept, could have been executed a little bit better. Memorable characters.
To be fair, this is a reread. It was one of the very first books I got on Audible. The different character narratives draw you into a very intense and realistic world. Its Lord of the Flies meets Disneyland in a hurricane. Written like a true crime investigation, it's an addictive listen. The two narrators are so good you'll forget you're listening to fiction.
Written in a fictional "oral history" style, (a personal favorite of mine,) this book sticks to its Lord of the Flies meets Disneyland premise. While a bit too constrained by its premise at times, I still thoroughly enjoyed this tense and violent look at a sudden removal of structure and society.
I do wish the author had focused less on youth culture and reliance on internet and put in a bit more realism. It seems more like an author tract and less a realistic exploration of "what if?". Nevertheless, I was hooked until the end and had to see what happened.
If you are feeling in the mood for horror in an amusement park setting, I recommend reading this one.

This is such a unique book and I was hooked from the beginning. The story itself is wild! And I loved that it was delivered in interviews with survivors. Through each perspective we learn a little more and discover the events that impacted each other. The characters were great and all had their own voice. I really liked some of them, and hated others.
