I expected this to be a bit of a filler, just considering it's the 2nd out of 4 in the series. However, I found it to be unexpectedly full of new developments and shock value. While there were a couple chapters of repetitive traveling and worry, for the most part all of the characters developed further and continued their stories well. Excited to read the next installment!

I can’t tell if there were slower moments in this book because my ebook lied to me about how far along I was, or if it was the book. Regardless, this sequel was absolute gas. The plot twists got me!!!!! I care about these characters so much. So much is at stake. Yeah. What a wonderful series so far. I will have more to say at a later time but….wow!

The addition of Helene’s POV in this is shockingly enjoyable. I usually hate when series start adding POVs as they go but this one fit incredibly well into the existing narrative. The plot isn’t anything groundbreaking but it’s fun, and moves at a steady pace. The amount of trauma going around is.. a lot.

I’m glad our love square is now whittled down to a love triangle but for the love of god can we please just close that forever?? I never like a love triangle but if it’s necessary for the plot then I can usually at least grudgingly handle it.. but here? Not necessary at all and no one can convince me it is.

I hope the next book delves a little bit more into the villains of this story. We get some information near the end but I still think each of them could use some fleshing out.
