Loved this. It was fun to see No Peak and the Mountain from an outside perspective and to learn more about the role of a clan that is meant to be neutral. Overall, a quick read that fleshes out Janloon even further than the original trilogy.
This little novella encapsulates everything I love about Fonda Lee's Greenbone Saga; intricate and deeply immersive worldbuilding, blood-pumping action and enough heart to make me go through a box of tissues per book. A perfect capstone to an amazing trilogy, I wouldn't have changed a word.

I'm probably biased at this point. The Green Bone Saga is, at this moment, my favourite series of all time. I don't know if there's anything that could top this series anytime soon.
This novella was honestly what I wanted it to be. Brief but enough to pull me in. It's nice that we were able to witness the inner workings of a minor and neutral clan like the Haedo Shield Clan as well as how much authority the police has in comparison to the two biggest clans in Janloon like the Mountain clan and the No Peak clan. We also got to meet Hilo and Lan for a little bit, albeit a much younger version of them. But it was enough to make me feel a bit nostalgic.
Reading this novella made me want to reread the whole series again...

I'm at ease. Returning to the Gree Bone Saga universe and getting to know the young Kauls, even if only briefly, is a wonderful feeling that I will never regret 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
