Ali will never cease to be an incredibly talented writer. I’ve had this sitting on my shelf for three years and finally got around to reading it.

While I am a predominately sapphic reader, I thought I’d take a break and hit my physical tbr. This was such a lovely light read and will probably hit strong for others. I liked the inclusion of the background sapphic couple (let’s go lesbians!) and the main strife coming from being female in stem. It was cool seeing Ali’s passion for her scientific background in the way she wrote Bee’s life.

My biggest complaint to this book was the pacing. By page 200 i was begging our miscommunication and “oh but he hates me” to be put to rest. It’s frustrating how smart Bee is and how long we have to be subject to the “biggest op” nonsense. It could have been done 50 pages earlier and I wouldn’t have complained. And like similar books, its crux wraps up so quickly to where we don’t get much conflict in between.

🚨 SPOILERS BELOW🚨

Guy’s role as our main antagonist came as no surprise. I’m sure for some it’ll be a twist they didn’t see coming, but when stuff started going missing or ending up going wrong, it was pretty clear who our only culprit could be. The WWMD account was a nice touch but felt superfluous and a weird thing for Guy to sabotage (like, I get he’s upset about being removed from leading the project, but why is he taking it out on Bee and not on Levi?)

Overall a very fun, quick read. Would recommend to my hetero romance ladies and theydies
