Impeccable!

I had so much fun reading this story. It’s so difficult to see the cultivators as anything else but fickle gods so them being stumped about such questions like ‘what is love?’ is so funny. Wenren È thinks himself so smart but boiii he has no idea what’s going on most of the time.

The characters are well crafted and have such strong personalities that they were a pleasure to read about. Sometimes in Danmeis it happens that female characters have no representation but Baili Qianmiao is such a strong characters with a great story arch. She is a true heroine and protagonist. Not to forget Qiu Congxue and Shu Yuanyuan who are both great characters, especially with Shu Yuanyuan being so much more than just a temptress.

The love story between the main characters is well done with quite a lot of subtlety. It was fun to read when you understood Wenren È better than he understood himself. And Yin Hanjiang is a gripping character with his many twists and obsessions. They are well portrayed.

All in all, a really easy read and has like zero stakes and just a lot of good fun.

10/5 ⭐ It was an absolute gem ✨.

It's not the best xianxia out there but it's a great choice for beginners to try this genre. Everything related to cultivation was carefully explained and the plot was not that heavy on practicing martial arts or the theory behind it. Sometimes it gave the feeling that author wanted to twist a little this genre's stereotypes and proposedly exaggerated things (like the quick pass of time, the usual quests for medicines or weapons at the right moment, some quirks or big flaws in a few character's personality, etc). I found it very refreshing.

Both protagonists were already at the peak of the cultivation world from the beginning, and the focus of the novel lies somewhere else: preventing a naive woman from falling in love with a scumbag while trying to understand love itself (and failing to do it, but still getting a hubby huh)

At the last moment before daybreak, Polis and Alkaid shone brilliantly, reinforcing each other, beating Venus, which should be the brightest in this moment, in radiance.

I didn't LOVE it, but I enjoyed it for sure. I was without wifi and conveniently had the file, and finished the entire book in 2 days. It was fun enough to keep me hooked, but not anything extreme enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. I'd say I was sat fairly comfortably the whole way through.

It certainly had an interesting, exciting premise and plot, but I felt the romance itself was subpar. Not that I disliked it, by any means, but it wasn't groundbreaking. Certain phrases and exchanges are notably sweet or sorrowful. I enjoy both their characters. However, I enjoyed them plenty enough individually, too. The romance felt intensely more of a subplot, and perhaps, that's intentional.
