Great story, amazing plot, and a great cast of characters
This story is definitely a breath of fresh air in its uniqueness - the female side characters have an arrange of personalities/motivations/3 dimensions to them that is a definite outlier in a lot of the danmei out there, and make the story such an incredible read
the plot of this novel is pretty straightforward, and takes the existing trope of "fixing the plot of a mary-sue novel" into it's own twist; instead of the MC simply molding the plot to fit their own personal needs, the MC (the Venerable Wenren E) works to give life and motivations to the "Mary-Sue" of the original novel, allowing readers to sympathize with her and even root for her wholehearted happiness in the end, instead of throwing her off as just another silly girl with no thoughts of her own.
Besides the Mary-Sue of the novel, the other side characters do not disappoint. We get a "vixen" with brains, who doesn't only think in terms of her cultivation, a ghost demoness without brains but provides amazing companionship to the Mary-Sue and plenty of laughs, and the dreamy, brainy Zhongli Qian, who helps the Mary-Sue realize her own feelings.
The only reason I would not give this a complete set of 5 stars is simply because I did want a little more romance from the two main characters, for some scenes to be dragged out a bit, or at least a couple of side stories. if this story had more side stories than the 2 we were given, the story would feel a bit more complete.
Overall a 4.5/5 read, and I cannot recc it enough simply for it's amazing array of female side characters

Just as good as on my first read. I recommend to any xianxia danmei lovers, but it definitely shouldn’t be your introductory story into xianxia.
