Fun metafiction in a Good Omens meets Hellraiser way

This is the most patronising book I have ever had the misfortune to read.

I just finished reading Inferno by Niven and Pournelle, a sci fi take on Dante's Inferno. It was entirely by coincidence that I stumbled across Mister B. Gone when I was starting a hike and looking for a horror audiobook to listen to on YouTube. I enjoy Barker, though I haven't read him in years, so I just played it and was pleasantly surprised to find this was another (albeit loose) take on Inferno. I was also pleased with the amazing narration by Doug Bradley.

I'm glad I didn't read any reviews and just dove in, they may have sullied my experience. This isn't a masterpiece, but it is great fun.

3.5, highly recommend the audio book performed by Doug Bradley for the best reading experience.

I had such high expectations for this book based on the description, but I was very disappointed in the story. I was expecting dark and demonic and, instead, read something that was juvenile and pointless.

Great read from Clive Barker. The concept is different from a typical book, horror or otherwise. My only dislike was the feeling of "The Monster At The End Of This Book" in certain places. Botch is a sympathetic character, even after he grew bold enough to embrace his true nature.

I enjoyed this book quite a lot, but there was never a point where I felt that it was amazing. The plot was interesting, and kept me hooked the entire time, but as the story went on I found the interruptions of the demon breaking the fourth wall to be kind of annoying. At first I enjoyed the interruptions, but I later came to dislike them for taking me away from the story being told.
