This is the first book in the new Shadow Force International series by Misty Evans.
I loved this book and read it in one day. The characters are very well developed and settings well described and the story line believable.
Savannah is an investigative reporter that doesn't back down for anyone not even the president. This time Savannah needs help though because her sister Parker who works for the president has gone missing and with the president threatening her she decides to follow a lead to Rock Star Security where she ends up hiring them for protection and that comes with a body guard named Coldplay.
Savannah once did a piece on a Navy Seal named Trace Hunter which ended up being used to send Trace to prison. Trace was recently helped to escape prison and was hired by Rock Star Security with the hope that they can help him clear his name. Rock Star Security hires former Navy Seals and other special forces veterans, and they knew that the charges brought against Trace were false. Trace has a new name "Coldplay" and now he has been assigned to help Savannah, the very woman who ended his career and was the reason he was thrown in to prison.
Trace has his secrets just as Savannah has hers. Will their secrets destroy them or save them?
This one will keep you on the edge with all of the twists and turns. I loved the chemistry between Trace and Savannah. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I was given an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Fatal Truth is the first in an exciting new series. Action, adventure and romance all in equal measure Fatal Truth mixes just enough reality into the story to make it believable. The characters are strong and likeable. The bad guys make you want to scream and shout. Fatal Truth is a well written, fast paced romantic suspense that will keep you up past your bedtime. I can’t wait for the next adventure.

TV journalist Savanna Bunkett destroyed Navy SEAL hero Trace Hunter's career after airing an investigative report that exposed him as a traitor. He spent 18-months in prison for crimes he didn't commit and was suddenly released, finding himself working for Shadow Force International and assigned as a bodyguard to Savanna. She's now become the target of the president because of her current research that threatens his office. Trace looks nothing like the man in the photos from two years ago and she doesn't recognize her bodyguard, who has every reason to despise her.

This story rocked from the opening chapters and never really let go. It's different from the typical stories about military operatives in that Trace was one of those who did "black op" missions, the kind that give you pause. It's sanctioned espionage at its worst and he's plenty scarred. Savanna's no slouch either and I liked her a lot. She's got great instincts but never replaced Trace's with her own.

As this is written in 2016, it also includes all the current technology we know about and then some. Whether it's real or not isn't the issue as it just raises the cool factor to a pretty high level (think Jason Bourne) and all seemed plausible. You always know who the main antagonist is but not everyone who's under his thumb or the true nature of what he's hiding. It was revealed sparingly, just enough at a time to keep me in the story.

This was a fun debut of the series with lots of suspense, intrigue and a pretty good romance. I like these super skilled operatives who are smart, highly trained and take no prisoners. And, one of the principal characters who is the force behind the agency happens to be a woman, a refreshing difference. Can't wait for the next story.

Fatal Truth is the first book in the spin-off series to Ms. Evans' Deadly SCVC Taskforce series, and it's a doozy! Savanna and Trace share a common enemy--and unfortunately for them, it just happens to be a guy with seemingly unlimited resources--the most powerful man in the world, the president of the United States.

I loved watching Savanna and Trace grow closer (totally against Trace's will--the poor guy was so determined to hate her for being the reason he'd been languishing in prison yet was totallt committed to fulfilling his duties to Rock Star Security, which meant keeping Van safe) all the while they were desperately trying to find Van's sister and find a way to bring the president down. Ms. Evans kept the tension taut throughout the book; the parts where Van and Trace just missed connecting with Van's sister Parker were particularly stressful!

Throughout the book I was anxious for Trace to finally come clean and reveal to Van who he really was, but at the same time I totally understood why he was so hesitant to. Naturally you know it's all going to bite him in the butt at some point, and you're just keeping your fingers crossed that he'll be able to emerge from the fallout on the other side and somehow convince Van to not hate him forever. (Warning: when he finally does manage to work up to an apology, it's a doozy! ;) )

It was darn near impossibly to put down Fatal Truth once the story really got started. I can't wait to read more from this series--bring it on, Ms. Evans! :)

I love a good thriller and when there is romance included in the plot it only gets better. Misty Evans does a masterful job of keeping the reader on the edge of their seats while unraveling the President's dangerous plan to create super soldiers.
The characters are wonderfully written and you can't help but hope they will be able to get to the bottom of the plot and come out alive. I enjoyed this book so much I immediately ordered the next book in the series and can't wait to start it.
