i did cry reading this, also maybe not for you if you don't like books that are mostly character driven.
I really enjoyed Ada and Tilly, their relationship and their differing views of the world. This is a coming of age story for both of them, in my opinion, not just Ada.
Throughout reading this I was reminded of lazy, hot summer days where the end of summer vacation sometimes meant change and uncertainty. The anxiety that accompanies that uncertainty was palpable at times and wove around the Bloom family as they adjusted to the changing nature of their family dynamics. I found the individual family relationships to be the most interesting - especially the one between the two sisters, Ada and Tilly - and the way changes in these dyads rippled across the whole family. Overall, this was a wistful portrayal of youth, family, and finding yourself (in all stages of life).
