2.5 stars, rounded up to 3 for the story line.

Perhaps my love for Young Adult books is waning. I find Tick and co pretty annoying, which I'm sure I'm not supposed to do - you're supposed to like the protagonist and their friends, right? Ugh.

Though in saying that, Sato is pretty kick ass in this book. Made me kind of wish he was the protagonist, instead of the bratty Tick.

SpoilerAm I being weird that I felt uncomfortable when Sato was vowing to carry out genocide? I mean, we don't know a lot about the Bugaboo soldiers - are they really just crazed murderous clowns?

Man, this took me forEVER to finish, but MAN, it was amazing. It's not like one of those books that drags on the conflict forever, and it never feels dangerous enough, or it doesn't escalate properly. Also, the character development here is absolutely beautiful. James Dashner proves that, once again, he's got a way with words. Seriously, this book was amazing, if a bit long, and it's definitely worth the read.

This was a really good book with a suspenseful ending. I did not see the end coming. I was so shocked when Jane stabbed Tick, that i had to read it over and over because i didn't believe it. I cant wait for the next book. The end was a cliffhanger because Tick is in the Nonex, but no one knows where he is. He just "ceased to exist". I liked how Kayla and Lisa were brought into the story. I really think that Lisa and her mom will have a big part in the next book.

I honestly loved it. This book was beyond amazing! One of the best sequels I have read in a long while, would 10/10 recommend this series to anyone who is remotely interested!

Fantasy meets science-fiction in Book 3 of James Dashner's 'The 13th Reality' series. Atticus ('Tick') Higginbottom's nemesis Miss Jane returns, badly scarred from her previous encounter with him, to seek revenge and use her powers to create her Utopian idyll. But something goes dreadfully wrong and Tick has to use his wits and channel his Chi'karda to save the Realities and himself.

Aimed at the young adult/teen reader, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and found it instructive as part of my own personal research into this genre as I am writing a sci-fi adventure story for 10-13 year olds.

I liked the first two books in this series, but this one not quite so much. I'm not usually much of a sci-fi fan, but the first two books were able to keep me drawn to the story line. However this book had several times where it felt like the author wrote himself into a corner and had to make up something ridiculous to get him out of it. Characters that suddenly got thrown into the book that were able to save the day and tell the main character exactly what to do, when to do it, and were able to give him the means to do it. I'll probably still read a 4th book if one is written, but I was disappointed in this one.
