Read in 18.5 hours at 0.65 speed.
Cute story, in the end prom is only the last chapter and most of the book is preparing for it. I love how Waylon gains confidence to publicly do a drag performance, but didn't like how all along he voices how much he dislikes his fat body.
Clem's jaw drops a lot.

This was so adorably queer. Weyland gets thrown in for prom queen as a prank by bullies along with his sister's girlfriend for king, and they decide to run with it. Seeing them grow to be friends, deal with the upcoming insecurity of adulthood, and become more comfortable in their own bodies is phenomenal. I think it's my favorite of the trilogy.

A main character to root for, and familiar “friends” from Clover City to revisit!! Loved this book…Julie Murphy has done it again.

A book about a fat gay boy obsessed with drag? Yes please! This book was incredible fun and I finished it in one day! I want to be Waylon's friend!

“I’m too good to keep secret.”

Getting to the end of this series was definitely bittersweet. All of the stories that Julie Murphy tells are so relatable and I can’t imagine how important these stories are for young adults.

I particularly enjoyed Waylon’s story. He’s fat and openly gay in a small Texas town, and that hasn’t been easy for him. He auditions for his favorite drag TV show (clearly inspired by Drag Race), which results in a joke nomination for Prom Queen.

This book manages to be heartwarming and heart-wrenching as Waylon figures himself out and decides where he wants his life to go. It’s such a funny, sensitive, and topical book that is just incredibly relatable. Waylon is unapologetically himself, which is so inspiring and beautiful to read.

This series is really great overall, and I highly recommend checking it out.
