DNF for now, I really need to feel joy again, I'm sorry Mr Dostoevsky but I just can't do ittttt
(I hear such good things about the Brothers Karamazov so maybe that will be the next one I try but man... I really can't get into these endless, ENDLESS sentences, character descriptions and dozens of 3-part names to remember while the plot is at a total standstill. Not sure it's a translation thing either as I tried several :( )

I grew so fond of the characters. All of them. The children of mother Russia.

This was my first time reading Dostoevsky. I went in totally blind, and I'm glad that I did. The Idiot is so painfully ordinary, yet interspersed with hilarious and poignant gems. One 1914 reviewer put it best--"his 'sensual sense' of beauty - of beauty in all its manifestations." Isn't that what it's all about?
"And I dreamed of all sorts of things, indeed. But afterwards I thought one might find a wealth of life even in prison."
