E dire che, fino a pochi anni fa, i racconti non mi entusiasmavano. Ora invece devo ammettere che, negli ultimi mesi, i libri più belli che ho letto sono proprio delle raccolte di racconti (Carver, Gospodinov, Levi. Leavitt).
Quest'ultimo ha la splendida capacità di sviscerare in maniera impietosa e magistrale le dinamiche che scorrono sotterranee tra le persone, soprattutto tra quelle persone che appartengono alla stessa famiglia. L'equilibrio tra ciò che viene detto e ciò che viene invece lasciato all'immaginazione del lettore è soppesato con molta cura.

Lots of great stories, the writing in some were not my jam but all had very emotional and poignant messages of family life from a lot of different perspectives.
Ricordo che ero meravigliato vedendo il suo diaframma che si alzava e si abbassava mentre lui dormiva, perché non avevo mai guardato nessuno dormire.
Just hadn't the mental space for upper crust antics to really enjoy this beyond the first couple of stories. Leavitt strikes gold here and there but mostly found this a bit of a bore. Having been equally unenthusiastic about Equal Affections, I'm left to wonder if we just aren't the best fit.

Una noia mortale. Grande delusione, a parte l'ultima storia e forse qualcosina in un altro paio di racconti, il resto è da cancellare immediatamente dalla memoria
Being a collection of stories, the one that i loved the most were the first one, i loved reading it, it almost felt i could feel the warm sun on my skin while i was by the poolside with Neil. And the last one that dwell into more clear queer themes.
