"Come Closer" by Sara Gran is a captivating read that immerses you in the seemingly ordinary life of a woman who may be possessed by a demon. The story is undeniably spooky, delivering classic horror vibes as chaos unfolds and things spiral increasingly out of her control.

Gran's writing style effectively draws you into the protagonist's experiences, creating a sense of unease and tension. However, despite the gripping premise, I found the story to be somewhat predictable. The theme of losing oneself to a force greater and older than oneself is a familiar trope in horror, and "Come Closer" doesn't stray far from this well-trodden path.

One of the book's strengths is how it leaves certain gaps and blackouts, allowing readers to fill in the blanks with their imagination. While some might see this as a flaw, I enjoyed the opportunity to engage more deeply with the narrative. Overall, "Come Closer" is a fun and campy read. It's enjoyable and effectively creepy, but it falls short in some areas, particularly in its predictability.
