this book took me forever to finish. it was a trek but it wasn't terrible, just very slow. the plot and characters were all interesting but it could've moved quicker. the ending felt rushed. i loved the mormon characters. they were a great foil and way to show the outside world.

This is the book I'd most like to stay in this year. Absolutely loved it. The characters & relationships were so beautifully observed. The gentle humour was perfect, and balanced out the sadness. I felt like I was there, in a different place, a different time, a different culture.

Beautiful writing that evokes both thought and emotion. The middle reads a little slow but picks up quickly. The style is like nothing I’ve ever read before and very refreshing.
