I tried the audiobook and I think it would work better if I read the physical book at a different time instead.

Early on in the book I was getting disappointed because I was hoping for more story around the termination of government support for the tribe. That's definitely in there and the story centers on that, but there's more about the people in the tribe and their daily lives than anything else. I was letting my expectations color my opinion. But as the story continued I found I was getting absorbed into those unique lives and their challenges. They've been terribly exploited, had land repeatedly taken away, and continue to have to fight, even today, for what they were promised. I recommend reading this with no expectations and rather let the stories about the lives of people who lived through these things pull you in and open your eyes to how others live.
