Boring, not enjoying the characters. Not worth my time.

the more that I read the lower my rating on this book. I did not read the first in this series so I do not know if that would have helped me understand Carl's "personality" any better. His responses to people (especially women) were all over the place. As well as Assad. It made the concern that Carl showed for Assad later in the book difficult to believe. The book was disjointed and all over the place. I wanted just a few bits explained instead of seemingly coming from out of left field. One was Carl's physical condition while on the jaunt to Spain. This seemed really random. I kept wanting to see if it tied back to a quickly mentioned possible flu that someone else seemed to have but it never did. I also do not think that my lack of knowledge of Denmark contributed to my disappointment. I do not foresee my reading of anything else from this author.

I preferred the first book in the series, mostly because the crime they were investigating was more interesting to me than the one in this book. Will definitely pick up another one from the series.

Quite a read. Without mentioning anything that could spoil the book, I can say only that it is classical detective story and with interesting woman character. A woman cruel, loyal, impressive and loving. I couldn't be more impressed with her. Lovely detectives and interesting case overall. Writer leads you through investigation without going much into action, but oh what an action happens later... Like a sweet liquor in a candy...

Although the translation is occasionally a bit rough, this is definitely the most captivating writer I've read in a while.
