My five star review of Danny’s Main

A man walks into a bar- and you’d expect me to follow that up with a joke. Well, it’s how Danny’s Main starts, and let me tell you- it’s far from a joke! I have loved Lisa’s writing since Thursday Nights ended up on my TBR and I read it on a whim, and fell in love with the characters. And while this novel is a standalone with different characters- it very much has characters that have become family to me, and they live in the fictional place called Charistown.

Lisa takes us on the emotional roller coaster of Danny and Julie. I mean, finally!! Don’t you want to hear their story? I know I did. We saw snippets of how they are in the present, but didn’t you want to know how they met? How they came to be the people they are today? And why the patrons and workers at their bar, are considered their family? I am so glad Lisa decided to write this story, because it needed to be told. And it isn’t hearts and unicorns, it’s a lot of thorns, and nightmares- but all becomes right in the world, and they end up right where they are supposed to be.

This book had everything- all the feelings too. I was happy, happy that they found each other, and they found a life together. And happy they could just be who they were- and that was enough. I was sad, sad that they had to go through such tough losses, sad that their lives sometimes seemed to spiral- but they always knew how to bring it back around. With Danny as the foundation, and Julie as the building built on top- their love was strong and fortified over the years. I loved what Lisa did with this book, and even if you read it as a standalone, you have to go back and read all the others in this series to really gain a new found respect for Danny and Julie. And after reading this, I really understood why they are the way they are, in a good way.

Pick up this fantastic read, you won’t be disappointed!

This story is part of an established series. The nice thing about this book is it can be read anywhere along the way and it fits in perfectly. Danny and Julie are a couple that can teach you about keeping your relationship strong despite the worst of circumstances along the way. They also teach you that family is about love, not blood. I will definitely be checking out the other books in the series.

"'If we're being honest, Julie, then don't lie' [...] 'I'm sure you're concerned for my safety, and for that, I'm grateful. But don't pretend you haven't spent tonight wondering what it would feel like to have me kiss you. And 'cause we're only doing the truth here, my truth is I've been dying to taste your lips since the second I saw them.'"

Sigh. Yea, from here, I pretty much fell in love with Danny and Julie.

As the description states, this book is part of Paul's Charistown series; however, it is a standalone that can be read as a series prequel or epilogue flashback. Danny's Main is my first Lisa N. Paul book, but it certainly will not be my last! The story of Danny Marcus and Julie Bell, Danny's Main is a 28+ year journey of their love, from the very first hello, through heartache, loss, and life. Beautifully written, it tore me apart and put me back together again, and it stayed with me long after the final page.

There is a realness and an honesty to these characters, and their story touched me on a deeply emotional level, as I am sure it will do for many, many readers. Their connection is instant, their spark hot, their love unwavering. Danny and Julie are a beautiful couple; one to adore, admire, and emulate. Where many couples would grow apart or crumble, they endure.

Danny's Main is a story of love and hope, the resilience of the human spirit, and the strength that comes from having the right one by your side.

Sargent Danny Marcus finds himself walking into a bar in Korea. Today is the day of his brother Jeff's death. Reading on, you still wonder what happened to Jeff, was he military? Was it suicide? Was it murder? We only know how it tore his family apart due to other things that happened from his older brother's death. For Danny and Julie, each of them have had tragedies in their pasts, tragedies of the worst kinds. Yet, their love still finds a way to conquer all, even when you think that they've hit the proverbial brick wall with a tragedy for the couple itself, Danny keeps fighting for them. This after losing Nash, his younger brother, but I won't tell you how. Watch as this contemporary romance takes you through all the parts of the wedding vows that are held sacred, especially the good times and bad, in sickness and in health. Watch as Danny finds a way to get through to Julie and what happens after he does. How does one truly define 'family'? This is what the main theme of this book is about, and it totally rocks their world.

This book is well written, smooth flowing, and easy to read. I loved the characters and enjoyed getting to read their story. This is book 4 in the series, each book can be read as a standalone (I have not read the first 3 books). It is a very heartfelt book. I felt the emotions coming from the characters and if I were right there with them. The imagery was amazing. I could visualize every scene.

Danny was an amazing character. He is a lead alpha male, that is also sweet, caring and compassionate. He was broken, looking to find something more out of life. Meeting Julie will change his life.

Julie is working at Chester's Bar when Sgt. Danny Marcus walks into the bar, blissfully unaware that her life would forever be changed. She soon found herself enamored with Sgt. Danny Marcus.

This book depicts their journey. Their happiness, their sorrow and heartbreak. It is a beautiful story and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
