I received a free ARC from the author for the promise of an honest review.
Hunt the Storm is the second book in the Golden Chains series. I did read Break the Stone. I remember that at the end of Break the Stone Raelyn, Kody, Liam, and Cali were on a plane to the middle east to find Raelyn and Liam's mother, Joanna. I felt like I missed something in between the ending of Break the Stone and the beginning of Hunt the Storm. At the beginning of Hunt the Storm, it feel like the hunt for Joanna going all wrong and that everyone is at desperate and exhausted - at their wits' end. Once I figured out everything, the book did get interesting. There are a couple of twists that I didn't see coming. You really have to pay attention to the different storylines in this book. It doesn't conclude as cleanly as I would like. I thought Raelyn and Kody's storyline would end but with the ending if Hunt the Storm, there has to be more.

Fast paced and exciting!
It kept me gripped from start to finish just like the first book did. The authors writing style is different to what I normally read but was quite refreshing. I thought the character development and plot line get better and better the further into the book I got. After reading the first book I found it to be slightly lacking in the romance department in my opinion (I love plenty of romance) but it was definitely not lacking it in this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more and I can’t wait to read the next book to continue Raelyn and Kody’s story.

I absolutely loved this book! I have to admit that when I started it I did not like it that much, but now I am amazed. There is surely a improvement from the first book and the complexity literally left me asking myself what's going on.
Characters:
I felt like the characters had big developments and I really appreciated it, but, at the same time, I felt like sometimes they were acting stupidly and irrational.
World-building:
Everything was so beautifully and well described. I felt like I was watching movie and I found myself forgetting that I was reading.
Action:
This was my favourite part! I was astonished by how complex and fast-paced everything was. This book gave me some really unexpected mind fucks and I couldn't wait to read more and more.
Romance:
Um, this was strange somehow because Rae took some shitty decisions and that affected everything, as much as Kody's obsession to always be in control was the main reason for most of the problems. In my opinion if the characters stayed and talked for 10 minutes with calm, their problems could've been solved.
Overall:
I liked the sequel more than the first book because I could see a clear improvement in the writing and the stunning, complex action and story. You should definitely check this series! It may really surprise you!

Great storytelling with intriguing characters and a timely plot. While the target audience may be someone ‘slightly’ younger than myself I was still captivated and can’t wait to see where the story goes next.

I was asked to read this book as an ACR reader after I read the first book in this series (Break the Stone), to write an honest review.
I honestly loved the first book. But in all fairness, I was not crazy about this one. Don’t get me wrong: Swindon writes very easily, I finished the book in one day and I enjoyed most of the plot. It was a good page turner. But the beginning of the book was just a little bit too chaotic.
The book starts a few days after the first book finishes: in a warzone. There, the two protagonists don’t communicate with each other AT ALL (which frustrated me). And one of the two runs away because she thinks that you cannot be in a relationship ánd make your own choices at the same time.
BUT after that the book was full of pleasant surprises. I liked how it all came together in the end!
