What an ending!! Am I right? Great. Hard not to be excited for the next book after an ending like that.

Gosh, though, this book did not live up to the hype of the first one. I still really enjoyed it, but I'm happy to hear that Rebecca Yarros will be taking more time to write the next one. I kinda feel like maybe because this one came out so soon after the first that she didn't have time to sit with it and really make it all that it could be. I'm not sure, but that's how I felt. Like so often it was missing that spark that Fourth Wing had. Took me an oddly long time to get through this one, but I enjoyed it.

This was going to be more like a 3 or 3.5 because the first 3/4ths of this VERY long book dragged on, but the last 1/4th just absolutely nailed it. A solid follow up to Fourth Wing, but it didn't quite have the same grip on me. I liked most of the character development, and damn if I don't want to hang out with some dragons.
