This almost makes me forgive the author for the ending of Changeless, but only almost. And I will never forgive the three libraries I use, including the one I work for, for not owning this volume but having the rest of the series, so that I had to go to Toronto and buy this one. I will be having words with the adult fiction selectors!
I love this series. All of the elements are familiar… anachronistically strong Victorian female MC, standard fantasy elements like vampires and werewolves, mystery, political intrigue, enemies to lovers romance. But combining them into one steampunk fantasy with such delightfully likable characters creates a unique story that I thoroughly enjoy. Excellent narrator as well. Anxiously awaiting the next to come in from the library.
Not quite as wonderful as the first two, but I still very much enjoyed this installment. Our hero, Alexia, is causing quite a scandal at the beginning of the novel, and leaves London to try and escape ... some problems. Naturally, she winds up with more problems. Problems upon problems, which are eventually solved with a bit of ingenuity, odd friends, and brute force. Fun stuff, as always, full of steampunk elements and werewolves, within a Victorian setting.
This whole series is terrific. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.
A good gauge of how into a story you are is when you realize there were three parts to your audio download and you only have two! Oh No! Spent a very long day kicking things in my frustration that I had to settle for podcasts and music when all I wanted was to listen to the antics of my favorite Parasol wielding heroine and her amazing entourage.
**Things I loved about this book:**
1. Ladybugs.
2. Infant Inconvenience. (Wonderful Phrasing!)
3. The Terrible Sisters. (So awful - just love it!)
4. It’s so orange.
5. Pesto.
6. Ivy is less but so much more.
7. The Unflappable Floote.
8. Professor Lyall, Lord Akeldama, and Biffy's storyline. More please!
9. Currents of plot development to come
**Things I did not so much love:**
1. Lord Maccon being a stupid ass
2. Lord Maccon’s redemption. (weak)
3. Silly Templar’s
4. Nasty German scientists with ill mannered dogs.
Immediately downloaded the next book to listen to. Fabulous!

This book was hilarious. I wasn't sure that I would like it considering that Conall was being so difficult about her pregnancy. I ended up really like Floote and I am dying to know what is up with Alexia's father. I am really happy in the end though that they worked it out.
Well the bloom is somewhat of the rose about this series. Book Three improved from the Second Book, in it had more then just exposition, but it still lacks the quip, pace and rapid development of Book One.
Some of the story moves a bit too slow to really matter at all and there are far too many side characters. The book is clearly targeted at the consummate fan, who would be very interested in the lives of all the side characters. Overall the 260 pages span a whooping 3 months. Just get on with it!!
The Book is also overly scientific, by which I mean, fake science of steam-punk. Inventions of total mumbo-jumbo, not really thrilling or fitting to the light and fluffy thing I thought I was reading.
It is likely I could be charmed back into this world by the next installment, but so far it lacks gusto to carry on.

This series is such a fun read. I've enjoyed all three of them so far. The characters are very rounded, and the settings are imaginative and really bring out the steampunk genre. Can't wait for the rest of the series.
This book picks up the stakes and excitement more akin to the first book. I won't lie, I had a hard time with Changeless, but worry not, Carriger is back with the parasol swinging and social insinuation slinging you know and love. Plus, this installment comes with 150% added queerness!
