This is absolute trash. If you're gonna plagiarize something, plagiarize something good.

It's a long time since I read a James Herbert book and I found this in a charity store and as I gradually shift my pile of unread books I thought I'd give it a go. It definitely felt a little dated especially in it's picture of women and the portrayal of a troubled man in the 1970's who is an all action hero investigator who gets drawn into a mystery concerning the disappearance of an Israeli agent who was sent by mossad to infiltrate a group led by an ex Nazi businessman. At the heart of the story is the spear that pierced Christ and the resurrection of Himmler. Daft , of it's time, but pure escapism which was just what I needed when I picked it up.

This was a slightly different novel to the others I have read by Herbert. This is more of a spy mystery and less of a supernatural tale, although it does have a little in it. I wasn't sure I'd like it at first but it soon got my interest. It is quite dated now but I would imagine at the time it was before its time. At times it was very predictable but was an entertaining read none the less.

Not one of herberts best but quite a quick and easy to read detective story with a hint of the supernatural. But hey, what was with the hermaphrodite?

Didn't seem like the usual James Herbert as the supernatural element didn't really have much of an impact until pretty near the end, was more like a typical spy thriller which was quite enjoyable. Gotta love a bit of Nazism, even 70 years later it is still powerful stuff.
