Gorgeous illustrations and poignant story, seen through the eyes of the author/illustrator young self. The Silent generation gave him a voice.

Methodical in its examination, relentless in its retelling, and thunderous in visual style, I picked Stitches up on a whim at a book sale yesterday afternoon, began reading it a few hours ago, and finished it in one fell swoop. Stunning work, and visually arresting.

Obviously, this is very different from his other works.  David is vulnerable in his graphic memoir about his difficult childhood.  I'm not sure what to say other than it was a powerful memoir about survival and healing.  It gives off silent film/noir vibes with the way that it is illustrated.
