I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE THIS!!
It's age-appropriate for all ages to read this book and the first time I read any Japanese Lit without stupidity and boredom being glorified! I loved the raw reality behind it and the gentle beauty of the story writing and modern day prejudice of people in a community thats otherwise known as very advanced, but are actually very backward minded when it comes to categorizing people as if they are objects! I like that the story focuses on a certain disease and a certain type of street food and somehow combines these two and tells the horrors and the beauty behind the second main character.

Probably one of the best books I've read recently. The story was very gripping and described two people who led very different lives and how they intertwined to create this masterpiece. So deeply moving.

loveed this book it felt like a soft warm hug
Sentaro is the epitome of a lost adult ,he meets the sweetest old lady Tokue who teaches him how to make delicious sweet bean paste.
but it’s not really about sweet bean paste ,is it?
it’s how a small act can give you that spark in life again without you ever realizing
also gives a glimpse through the lives of those having Henson’s disease and how they are treated like outcasts to society even after they got well and were healed.
Truly an incredible book.
