A beach read for fellow thriller bookworms!

I thought "Every Last Fear" was an entertaining and page-turning thriller. The Pine family's oldest son is in prison for the death of his girlfriend, but his family - with the exception of his brother Matt - and a Netflix documentary maintain his innocence. When the Pine family, minus Matt, are found dead on a family vacation in Mexico, the weird circumstances unfold a mystery that Matt and FBI agent Keller work to unravel.

Telling the narrative from the perspective of multiple members of the Pine family and FBI agent Keller across two timelines kept it from feeling too formulaic. Although it wasn't terribly unpredictable and the characters weren't super deep, it was a fun read. I really liked that it incorporated the fall out of a true crime documentary on the people involved and the ways that those films/series can truly alter lives, for better or worse.

I’m pleasantly surprised by how many twists & turns are in this novel (after reading The Night Shift)— I literally gave up on trying to figure out the guilty party. I enjoyed this book much much more!

The last chapters were so hard to read, I felt a constant pain knowing what is going to happen.
The multiple pov and the audible version worked wonderfully for this book.
Despite the fact that I figured out pretty early in the book who the killer was, I enjoyed the unraveling of the plot.

Enjoyable, fast read. I wanted to know how the story turned out, but sometimes was annoyed by the storylines shifting so much at the climax of one of the stories. It was a bit predictable, and could have been scarier. I liked how the main characters each had a bit more depth than they needed (i.e. knowing the agent’s family, knowing a bit of the sister’s backstory, the mom’s). I wish we knew more about the dad.

The writing wasn’t the best, and I think the story will be forgettable. But, I had an easy time reading it and being pulled along for the story. I don’t think I love realistic stories that have scarier themes
(the hitman)
so this wasn’t quite for me.
