This was a fun read, the pictures were super creepy and a great touch. But it felt very young adult/ teen genre.
Spoiler
The ending was a little too "happily ever after" for me, would have been interesting to see all of the stress make her turn back to drugs, or at least very close, and getting through that againbex2271's review against another edition

Holy moly this book! I literally read it in 2 sitting because I couldn't put it down, such a creepy story and the pictures added soo much to the story. I was sucked in from introduction of the first creepy picture.
This style was so different and captivating. I was beyond creeped out and worried I'd have my own nightmares.
Malory is truly the world's best babysitter, Adrian is the friend we all need when we know we sound crazy but just need someone to believe us and Teddy is just a kid trying to tell the difference between make believe and reality.
This one is a wild ride, do not flip forward to check out the pictures is my best advice. Just discover them as them come in the story.

This book had a fantastic first 80% but then it completely went over a cliff. The first part was creepy and the mystery kept me really engaged. Who’s Anya? What’s all these pictures? The parents that Mallory is nannying for are your typical type a protective parents. Mallory is a former drug addict fresh out of rehab. I liked how the pictures were added so we could get such a good idea of the story they were telling. The 80% mark led to a twist that makes no sense because there’s no way that Mallory wouldn’t have noticed it within a couple days. Than the explanation came as a scooby doo explanation. “I would’ve got away with it, if not you meddling kids” moment in the end. It’s a shame because I really enjoyed the beginning.

I’ve seen this book recommended on TikTok as well as I want a book lovers Facebook group I’ve belong to. I didn’t enjoy reading it, but I’ll be honest. When it gets to a certain point in the book, it’s not so much a twist as a completely different book. I’m not sure if I’m explaining it right, but there was a point in the book that I was like, WTF? Where is this coming from? It just felt awkward and forced.
But was still an enjoyable read and a different take on a mystery or thriller, with the addition of the artwork. I just wish it felt like a more cohesive story.

I loved this book because it took place in New Jersey and Philadelphia, so I was able to relate a lot and it made me feel like I was really there. This book was really good! The only thing is that the twist was a little odd.
Graphic: Drug abuse, Addiction, and Drug use
Minor: Mental illness, Violence, Adult/minor relationship, and Alcohol
