Just as the Grace children start to accept that there are fairies and other magical creatures all around them, Simon is kidnapped by trolls and Simon and Mallory have to rescue him.

I think I might like this more than its predecessor.

This second installment continues exactly where we left off in the first book. We get to see more of the faerie creatures Arthur Spiderwick has drawn in his notebook since the main plot revolves around saving Simon after he's been kidnapped by the goblins while looking for his cat. Together, Jared and his older sister Mallory goes on in an adventure to save him before he gets eaten.

What I enjoyed from these books besides spotting the parallels from the movie adaptation is how interactive it is for younger readers. Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black are almost characters themselves here as they make direct interaction with the main character Jared. It's as if Jared is speaking to the authors themselves, making the readers believe that the story really happened in real life.

If I read this when I was still a kid, I would've devoured this story a lot more.

ooh! Now the plot is getting really interesting. Wonder what those goblins were after. It is a very small book but cute, funny and mysterious.
