The story was not at all original and the illustrations were needlessly graphic at points.

It was predictable - felt like a rehash of an existing story (Mortal Kombat-like). The art was not bad!

This was a ton of fun. If you like Kung Fu films you'll love this. All the "elements" are present. A man finding his true potential. A misunderstood bad guy. Some serious ass-kicking. The script was okay, nothing spectacular. But it had a good plot and the development was consistent. However, it's the artwork that wins out. The fight scenes were well constructed. The color was really nice, muted but alluring. It made me lean into the story and study each scene.

All in all, I enjoyed the book and I hope they continue with the series.

Blaxploitation Supernatural Kung-Fu Soap Opera set in Harlem. That's really this book in a nutshell. It's popcorn reading at its finest and I loved every page of this fucking book. Can't wait for more.
