Good book over all with great ideas and things to help make your life better. There are many things that are not realistic for the normal everyday person, however that is one area that Tim Ferriss teaches in his book - strive for things unrealistic so you don't settle. There are many ideas presented in this book that I am interested in pursuing, including not limiting myself to a great vacation getaway even though I have kids and responsibilities.

Timothy Ferriss draws the model of the New Rich. These people understood that the right moment to live your dreams is here and now. You should leave your old job and establish your own business that can support your dream life. Live like a millionaire without actually be one.
His formula, DEAL, is made of four components:
Definition – according to the Pareto Principle, you should recognize 20% of the things you do that bring you to 80% of the desired outcomes. Be effective – not efficient, and focus on the few things that make significant progress;
Elimination – save time by “Data Detox” and removal of distractions;
Automation – create “autopilot” that assist you and manage tasks on behalf of you;
Liberation – learn how to release.

Even if most readers do not take into account the main principles of this book, I expect that most readers will find some useful ideas to help prioritize their time and attention to be more productive and to create some extra space. Importantly, the author gives excellent ideas on what to do with the extra time and space.

Ferriss does bring us some useful ideas about managing time, reducing complexity, and setting priorities; however, in typical Ferriss fashion, I guess, he manages to accomplish this in blazing ass-hole style.

While I agree with some of his productivity increasing points, I take major issue with his product choice method. While espousing lean living for himself, he encourages starting business types that duplicate or paraphrase other people's work - resell a product, license a product, or create a product. And by "create a product," he means outsource an idea to people with skills to actually create it, or rehash information already out in the world and sell the new form. In my mind, this just generates crap and doesn't really contribute anything to the world. While many existing products or information might be repackaged and presented as a new useful service, the book emphasizes picking something that you can get people to pay high prices for without actually providing them much new value.

I also dislike the idea of using virtual assistants for everything humanly possible. Simply punting tasks doesn't take care of the root of an inefficiency and can engender the disrespect of other people's time.
