Robin is the type of character who all of us can probably imagine ourselves as considering as she's the bookish, glasses-wearing, librarian stereotype. Looking at the cover art and also the author's headshot I'm getting the inkling that she's based off of herself (not too sure though). Either way, I LOVE her. From the beginning, she's been a bit of a pushover but with Zylas she gains confidence. I love that Zylas was written as a king who survived by being lean and avoiding fights he can't win. It felt super refreshing in a genre with super strong, mysterious paranormal men who get into a lot of fights and always win everything. Their deal is hard to explain to someone who doesn't know the context - but Zylas definitely gained affection for Robin during her visits in the library. Survival instinct who? Robin's protective instinct going haywire even though Zylas is a feared demon king in both her world and his world is hilarious.
This is a reread, and so I've already read Spellbound and the other Guild Codex books, but this was actually my introduction to the world. I read this before I read Spellbound, which wasn't a mistake at all, given that the world building is incredibly stable and still super insane! When I read Spellbound I kept going, "I know this!" because of Demonized. You definitely don't have to read Spellbound before this one. Demonized definitely gave me the jumpstart to go read the rest of the books, when I originally had no interest after reading the blurbs.
I'm labelling this enemies to lovers... although it isn't really. Just going based off of his initial suspicion and hatred of puny mortal minds. Mostly he just hates everyone but her.

He’s a morally grey demon with limited knowledge of human customs and emotions. She’s an orphaned witch with a stubborn streak as wide as the universe. Together, they are chaos and cuteness ignited and I LOVE THEM.
The story was very captivating and the characters likeable. I enjoyed the story a lot.

I'm not a big fan of Robin, I didn't warm to her in Tori's story and this didn't improve my option if her. I do however like Zylas and Amalia.
I liked reading about what else happened during Halloween and tying the 2 stories together.

Omg, what did I just read! I can’t express enough how I flove Robin and her demon Zylas. I want the second book so bad I could scream!
I so wish I could dish on this delicious delight but I don’t want to spoil not a word. I will say I think we might have another Piper and Ash on our hands, yay.
Annette Marie knows how to bring her characters and worlds to life. Hands down, this to me is better than The Guild Codex- and I love that series. Five stars!!!

A delightful read. At first I was worried that it wouldn't have the same charm as the main seires, but once it picks up my worries proved unfounded. I'm still disappointed she didn't become a baker to counter the bartender, making the guild codex be about the heroes of the food service industry, but nobody's perfect.
