I’ll be honest, I didn’t love Robin. She seemed to meek and afraid of everything. For exactly one chapter she had confidence, then it flew out the window. Girl, what happened? I do really like her interactions with Zylas and am excited to see where that goes, I just hope Robin finds some confidence and bravery and *personality* as the books go on.

Hot demon. Shitty family. Dead parents. Mysterious inheritance. Magic.

After adoring the Red Winter series, and feeling decidedly meh about The Night Realm, I had been hesitant to read any more Annette Marie under the assumption that I was really only a Red Winter fan. Fast forward three years, I'm breastfeeding for 3-4 hours a day, nap trapped or burping for another 2, and generally living my life on the couch with a baby and I am only surviving with ebooks to keep me awake. So back to my tbr list and I found this little gem. Seeing as I wouldn't be forking out the same cash as I was with the paperbacks, I decided to give it a go, and man am I glad I did!

I finished Taming Demons for Beginners in about a day and a halfe, and only because I began it at the 3am feed. I adored the setting, the timid but courageous MC, and the snarky and frankly hilarious demon. I was not however a fan of the crossover with the Spellbound series as I felt Tori was kind of a bitch and it felt a bit thrown in. I also felt like at times the plot was a teensy bit slapdash, hence the 4 ( maybe 4.5?) Star rating. This is definitely a must read paranormal/urban fantasy and I am going to now have to go back to the Spellbound series to start the aguild Codex off properly.

I hesitated on starting this book. There are glimpses of Robin in the Spellbound series but I wasn't particularly interested in her story, and when she appeared back when I read it I thought she was just another plain character.
But I was wrong! She isn't plain and either is her story. I also LOVED Zylas. He can be really cute or really mean and cruel. I was looking forward to read their interactions, it was so fun!

I really loved this first book. It's fast paced and intriguing. The story overlaps with some events in the Spellbound series, and I expect more overlaps in next books.

WoW!

What an action packed beginning to a great series! The world and characters are so well described and set up, I couldn’t stop reading until I finished. I can’t wait for the next book.
