I enjoyed this and found the main themes - including book-banning, anti-woke culture and othering of those who are different- very interesting. However it was let down by there being just too many characters, and I couldn’t keep track of them all. By the end I’d given up trying to!

This book was selected by one of our Book Club members.
I'm so glad she selected it. I think I might've read it anyway. I just love the way this writer writes. I plan on reading other books she has written. I loved that each chapter was about one of the books in Lula Dean's library of band books. The way, the author who each of the separate stories together for all the towns, people of Troy was really clever. Lots of lessons learned, lots of things to think about, and great character development.
Some of my favorite parts "women had babies and took care of the house. Men went to work and shot things on the weekend. Women smelled better and had less body hair.
Med had penises and could pee wherever they wanted" Absolutely hysterical out of the mouths of babes. What's interesting to observe how a young child sees the world and at such a young age starts to develop opinions/stereotypes.
We must remember we're always being watched by our little ones.
Loved their reference to the "red pill" I just saw the Broadway show angry Alan and I just couldn't believe the reference in this book.
Another quote that is also very telling. "Women were tolerated as long as they satisfied you and hid everything about themselves that you would find unacceptable" yes Nathan is an asshole
Highly recommend the book. If you are someone on the red pill, I recommend you read it most of all.
