This book read like fanfiction and I’m not sure for it’s a good or a bad thing.

Was it entertaining? Very much so.
Was it predictable? Yes
Was it too dramatic at times? Yes, but I can look past it.

I love a good story with past and present timelines and I think this one was done well. There were some parts that dragged on and the ending was a bit abrupt but overall I had a good time!

Also recommend the audiobook!

4.5 stars. I honestly really loved this. This is the best second chance romance I’ve read. Everyone hypes up love & other words but I think it’s overrated. This is 1 of 3 second chance romances I’ve actually loved. K.A Tucker I love you so much! I don’t know how she manages to write such gut-wrenching, moving stories every single time. I didn’t think this book would hit me with as much emotion as The Simple Wild series but it got so close. The romance in this was so bittersweet and tragic but the friendship storylines were too. It hits you when you don’t expect it and I love that about her writing.

I loved this. The characters were loveable and the story relatable, full of nostalgia. I tend to enjoy the way this author writes romance because it’s not all fluff. The atmosphere and setting of the novel were lovely and both timelines weaved together seamlessly; I’m not always a fan of Then and Now books, but I liked this one. There were times the plot could skew cheesy but the writing balanced that out so it wasn’t unbearable. Really enjoyable read, and I will definitely be reading more from her!

I'm kind of annoyed. Totally unrelated to this book or this review. First of all, I'm not a fan of books with then and now. I don't like it. I try to but I can't find it in me to enjoy a book like that. This book was overall okay. It was drama filled and a good read. I enjoyed it. I've read better though. I wasn't much of a fan because I didn't really feel their love progress. They never stopped loving each other and I didn't really like the then parts. Again, just me. Either way, it was a good book. It was enjoyable.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy. This did not affect my rating.

K.A. Tucker is fast becoming a must-read author for me. I read and absolutely loved A Simple Wild. So, when I saw she had a new book coming out – and it involved summer camp?! I was sold.
Piper Calloway is a 29-year-old business woman, in a male dominated field – she is destined to take over her fathers’ company. This book has dual timelines, following Piper in the present day, and her 16th summer.
When Piper was 16, her mother gets Piper to agree to go to a summer camp to be a councilor. Piper quickly fell in lust, and in love, with Kyle. From the moment they laid eyes on each other, they knew. They spent every free moment they could together, along with Eric and Ashley. Something happens near the end of the summer that changes the trajectory of their lives.
Flash forward 13 years, Piper is successful and helping run her father’s company. When one day, she sees a familiar face in the lobby of her office building. She can’t believe her eyes. The boy that broke her heart at 16. Kyle. Piper is still friends with 2 other camp councilors – Ashley and Christa. They live with her, and the bond they created over the years is a special one.
The story moves along, and we learn more about what happened that one fateful summer, and Piper and Kyle quickly get back in each other’s orbit, falling back in to lust.
Everything comes to a head, when Piper’s father finds out that Kyle is back in her life. Secrets long buried are unearthed and Pipers life is thrown in to a tailspin.
The accident that ended their summer in 2006, was more tragic that Piper was lead to believe.

This is a really good second chance romance. If that is your thing, I definitely recommend picking this one up. Even if it isn’t, but you love summer/camps/lakes/falling in love… this is a great book to check out. It is fluffy to begin, but the ending is more serious. Piper is a strong female lead, who says what she is thinking and goes after what she wants.

The flashbacks to summer camp made me nostalgic for my teenage years. The freedom, going to the lake, and falling in love for the first time.
