Beautiful cover and hoped I would be moved by this collection, instead I was able to leave the book on my side with no desire to read it for a few months.

I have (shamefully!) not read any Kae Tempest before, so it was about time I finally picked one up. The blurb implies that this is somewhat different to their other work, which makes it doubly interesting as someone unfamiliar with what their other work might be! Speaking for this collection alone, however, it was gorgeous: a really interesting look at heartbreak, healing, and love. It's full of beautiful arrangements of words, but it also has a grittiness to it. Heartbreak, and the lasting effects of heartbreak, is a central theme, and never shied away from. Equally, however, there is a clear sense of healing, of learning to live and to love again. I'm really grateful this exists.
