I really enjoyed this YA piratical fantasy! There were a lot of fun twists throughout, though I predicted almost all of them. I liked the depth of the story and the details of Alosa’s character. The characters seemed older than they were (17 and 18?? Yeah, they didn’t act that age). I wish there was more romance!! I’m excited to read the next book and see what happens next.

Alosa was truly inspiring for me ,you don't read often about a female captain who posses traditionally  feminine and masculine qualities at the same time.I fell in love with her wit and fiery temper but also with her compassion and  intelligence.

i loved alosa’s siren characterization the most out of anything in this book. it was so real and intense
overall this book was pretty basic in plot and very straightforward but there were plenty of scenes i enjoyed. i loved alosa and her character development, and same with riden, but the other characters were lacking.
