A timely book, given all the hate crimes against Asians. This is also great to teach kids not to pull at their eyes to mock their Asian classmates, as well as to give Asian kids pride in the shape of their eyes.
Gorgeous illustrations as well.

I don’t think I’ve seen a more beautifully illustrated book
I've been dying to get this since it's release. So glad I have it now. I can't wait to keep it on my classroom bookshelf this coming school year!!
This picture book's cover and title are so perfect that I was afraid the rest of the book couldn't live up to them, but it is great. The illustrations are gorgeous all throughout, and the creative, poetic text describes traditional Asian features with love and delight, celebrating everything that is beautiful about this girl's eyes, and the eyes of her female family members.
I thought it was odd that no male characters appeared. The book is obviously marketed towards girls, but since many Asian guys also experience discrimination and insecurity related to their eyes, it would have been nice if the book had included a brother or a father figure, instead of only women. I'm not sure why the author chose her approach, and she may have had a good reason for it, but this is the one reason why I'm not giving the book five stars.
Something that is not a critique of the book, but that trans-racial adoptive parents should be aware of, is that this book encourages self-acceptance and joy through comparison to family members who look similar. Someone who buys this book based on the cover alone may find that it won't help their child at all, and could just stir up difficult feelings about being in a family that looks different. This is not a problem with the book, since it is not written to an audience of adoptees, but I want to make sure potential buyers are aware of this.
Update: I'm giving this book five stars now! The author has released a book for boys, [b:Eyes That Speak to the Stars|57128961|Eyes That Speak to the Stars|Joanna Ho|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1643131139l/57128961._SX50_.jpg|89408075], and there is a book for adoptees coming out in early 2024: [b:Eyes That Weave the World's Wonders|139506813|Eyes That Weave the World's Wonders|Joanna Ho|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|155474303]. <3

I read this book to my students. It is a beautiful book with amazing illustrations and story. My students ask me to read it to them at least once a day. They love seeing characters that look like them. I will being getting Joanna's other book as well for the boys very soon.
Finally got my hands on this! Thank you HEPL Overdrive!
I predict that many kids will pick up Eyes That Kiss in the Corners based on its beautiful Disney art-like cover. Not that I think Disney art equals beautiful because I'm not a Disney superfan, but how could someone not be aware of Disney art's freaky hypnotic magnetic forces.
