this is so perfect and loving omg

Gorgeous illustrations, beautiful characters, and a delightful story. I'm so glad to see these kinds of picture books exist for the younger generations and that they are received so well. Would highly recommend for all age groups!

gorgeous art, empowering message for Chinese girls.

This books is absolutely STUNNING. the illustrations are so beautiful. It goes through one little girl comparing her eyes, first to her friends and then to her family. Then she expands to cultural references like Guanyin the Monkey king and food like lychee.

Notes: beautiful mother-daughter moments and grandma (no father present). Chinese heritage implied with dragon and cultural dress portrayed but is never explicitly stated.

I feel like this book would really benefit from back matter or a note explaining the depth of the illustrations. I thought I had seen a clip of an author/illustrator interview which talked about the symbolism of butterflies for example but I don’t remember where that was.

What a beautiful story about loving your ethnic features. It's so sweet and filled with heart and love and acceptance. A fantastic read a loud for kids to understand ethnic diversity and accept physical differences among each other.

This book made my eyes water the entire time. Something about it... Just so beautiful.

A Must

This such a sweet book. I’m so happy that more authors of color are writing children’s books so children of that ethnicity can see themselves in a story.

Lovely message with some poetic description and lovely art.

This book has such stunning artwork! It’s about a girl who has “eyes that kiss in the corners” instead of the big wide eyes of her classmates. I thought it was a beautiful story and empowering about recognizing your own beauty even though it doesn’t fit the Western definition of beauty. Beauty is subjective and people should not discriminate against people because they have different facial features. Great book for kids and adults
