Douglas A. Anderson has done a real service in producing this slim volume, which collects most of what there is to be collected from the brief literary career of Robert Nelson. Although Nelson was at best a minor figure in the world of early twentieth-century fantastic literature, his small output has a rawness and a vigor that is thrilling, and hints at greater things that might have been had he lived longer. The mix of prose, poetry, and letters in this volume allows the reader to view the subject from multiple angles, reinforcing the impression that Nelson was a true poet.
